The Ugly Quacking Duck Podcast
Lily's Eventful Day and Sunny's Shape-Shifter Theories
Join us on the Ugly Quacking Duck Podcast as we share a hilarious Tuesday afternoon chat, starting with Lily’s dramatic school day that ended with a trip to the nurse's office and an early exit. We’ll also tackle the relentless heatwave, sharing our quirky attempts to stay cool with the air conditioner on and our playful water game plans. Plus, RoRo and her early morning adventure to the vet for her male cats' surgery.
Switching gears to Monday’s antics, I adjusts prices in preparation for hunting season while Sunny reflects on his sun-heated swimming pool experience. We humorously speculate about Sunny potentially being a shape-shifter, inspired by TV shows like "Fringe" and "X-Files." As we transition into fall, we share our love for cooler evenings perfect for outdoor fires and camping, brainstorm about creating a dedicated podcast studio, and enjoy a light-hearted earthquake report from around the globe. Tune in for a fun-filled episode with guest appearances, animal cracker jokes, and spontaneous laughs!

Hello everyone.
Speaker 2:Hello all.
Speaker 3:And hello everybody.
Speaker 1:You are listening to the.
Speaker 2:Ugly Quacking Duck.
Speaker 1:Podcast All right.
Speaker 3:Way to go. For some reason, I feel like I'm going to be the loudest one saying that in there.
Speaker 1:That's all right, we need some loud mouth. All right, how's everybody doing? It is tuesday afternoon, um, believe it or not, we're going to try to put another podcast out. We're going to do a short one, not a blast, but just a shorter version yeah, yay, I like this.
Speaker 2:We're doing a podcast on a couple days afterwards, yay.
Speaker 1:Yay, Well, it just so happened I had to take the day off to go do a test and then I got a call. Lily happened to want to get out of school, I think.
Speaker 3:No, no, no, Tell us about it, Lily. So before lunch, yeah, tell, think, no, no, tell us about it, lily. So before lunch, yeah, tell us your story, lily. So before lunch I started coughing a little bit raspy and my nose was like running and everything, just, you know, like cold symptoms, you know. So my teacher sent me to the nurse. She told me this whole lecture about COVID coming back. So I was like my teacher sent me to the nurse, she told me this whole lecture about COVID coming back. So I was like I can just go to the nurse. She's like, yeah, go ahead.
Speaker 3:So I took the nurse pass and I went to the nurse and everything. I told her everything she gave me, like my, she did the arm thing and she gave me the finger and everything that. So like they clip it on your finger and like takes you everything. And then they did like that pressure thing on my arm and they did the heartbeat and everything. They got me all hooked up to stuff. Yeah, I'm still here, so I get to do that every day too yeah.
Speaker 1:I got a home yeah, yeah, um.
Speaker 3:And so she said go to lunch and then come back and tell me how you feel. So I went to lunch, I ate, and I went back and then I felt kind of lightheaded walking to the nurse so I was like well, great, there's another thing to add on to everything. So I told her the symptoms that I had before and just added the lightheaded on it and she was like you need to go home.
Speaker 1:I was like um, you need to go home.
Speaker 3:Okay, so she called my mom. My mom said she can't get off work, so she Tell the truth.
Speaker 2:You wanted to get out so you could do the podcast.
Speaker 3:Yeah, there we go, that's. Such a no. And I just had a moment pause there. Brain freeze and so my mom couldn't get off work. So she called everybody and Bruce is the one that answered and he was the one that picked me up.
Speaker 1:Well, luckily I was off work because I had that test to do and I just over-modulated. I got too close to the mic. I'm going to have to watch that.
Speaker 3:You're bad. You're bad now.
Speaker 1:Well, we just want to welcome everybody on this Tuesday podcast. We're not going to keep you very long, we just thought it'd be fun to do another one yeah, we just wanted to grab you and keep you and then let you go we did leave the air conditioner running, so if you hear a light, slight noise behind our words, it we have air conditioner we usually have it off, but it's on now because it's so hot outside.
Speaker 3:The thing is even working yeah, it's very hot.
Speaker 1:Let's see what the temperature on my phone says um 96 degrees out there wow yeah, and we didn't want to shut the air down because it's going to be 96 in here down because it's gonna be, 96 in here. Wow come on turn the water on? No, I don't think we want the water?
Speaker 2:no, I think we're gonna look sunny, we need to keep it dry.
Speaker 3:You tell me that you want a bath now. Oh me that you want a bath now.
Speaker 2:Oh, no, no, no. I want the water on, yeah, but the water on means that you play in water.
Speaker 3:Yeah, that's not a bath, that's play. But you can go in the bath and play, no, yeah.
Speaker 2:No, I want the water to spray.
Speaker 3:You haven't took a bath. I can give you a shower.
Speaker 2:The shower sprays water might be interesting.
Speaker 3:I might like that I'm gonna do set up after the podcast, because you do stink sunny, okay we'll have to worry about that later, but yeah, okay, well, he's, he's. Uh, he's a silly guy.
Speaker 1:Yep and RoRo took the male cats, which there were three of them, to the vet this morning. She had to get up early but she took them to get some surgery done. So I feel sorry for the cats. They're male, so you can just guess what's happening. They get to come home later on this afternoon, but ouch, ow, ow, ow, I know. So I hope that everybody out there in our listening area did we welcome everybody. Let's welcome everybody, you ready.
Speaker 2:Yeah, all right, I think I already did, but welcome, welcome everybody. You ready? Yeah, alright, I think I already did, but welcome everybody. Thanks for coming back by.
Speaker 1:Yes, we appreciate you coming back by.
Speaker 3:And if you're not new, thank you for sticking around. Yeah, some people probably have been here from the beginning.
Speaker 1:So hello to the world.
Speaker 3:And hello to the new world. I don't know, I didn't know what I was saying them all right, I'll say hello to the. Midwest oh no, I forgot southern illinois. I mean hello, southern illinois. You know what I I need to redo that.
Speaker 1:I can't well, that just proves we're human. We're not ai, we just mess up all the time. But uh, yeah, so everybody out there in the world, hello. Everybody in the midwest that's where we're from yay, hello, we hope to hear from you and everybody from southern illinois, yes, yeah, oh yeah, I hope that wasn't loud.
Speaker 3:I didn't pay attention, so if you, I was right here where I'm speaking right now.
Speaker 1:so Well, we'll just have to hope it's not overdone when we check it out later on in post, but anyhow. So, how's your last two days went, lily?
Speaker 3:It's good, you know, very interesting, a very interesting Monday. You know it felt kind of different, you know.
Speaker 1:Well, my Monday was very different. I had, uh, almost the whole department price changes to do. I started at seven o'clock and I got done at three o'clock price changes, yeah, going up or going down most of them went up oh not surprised yeah, I mean either uh, we're, you know we are sporting goods, so we do hunting and stuff and guess what's coming up in a week or two Hunting season? Yeah, so there you go. They got to jack the prices up to meet everybody.
Speaker 2:Yeah, are they going to be hunting geese? I hope not.
Speaker 3:That's bad, bad, bad. Well, Sonny, you're not going to be one of them because you live in a safe environment.
Speaker 1:That's true. You're one of the lucky ones, Sonny, if you're really a goose.
Speaker 3:Lucky Sonny.
Speaker 1:Didn't you say one day you was an alien.
Speaker 2:Yeah, maybe. I'm a shape shifter.
Speaker 3:Oh, I know why you mentioned that sunny you're watching too many fringe yeah and uh they have one on what is that show?
Speaker 1:x files, x files. But there's an actual show where they're constantly trying to catch aliens and well, I, I don't know that one it's one of those real to life shows.
Speaker 3:I remember that one show that nina used to watch and it was like a they we had to dig for treasure, like in, like 10 different spots.
Speaker 1:That was oak island. There's a show that we watched that's similar to this that show but it was about, uh, aliens not really aliens, but weird phenomenon lights. I don't think they ever come out said anything about aliens, but they had stories from the natives far back that lived there. See in shape shifters. So there you go. Maybe sunny is really a shape shifter, or maybe he's just a weirdo oh, you're saying you're a weirdo. I like that. That's kind of unique. Maybe you are there you go.
Speaker 2:I never believed me though okay.
Speaker 1:Well, anyway, we're off work and was too hot to go mo. I'll wait to it cools down. It's both here, in a few days and I get another day off here sometime soon. I won't get Saturday off, but we won't be able to podcast then yeah, I uh, luckily we're doing it now.
Speaker 3:I get Saturday, oh and I get. I have a half day Friday and then I don't have school on Monday. I have a three day week.
Speaker 1:I have a four day.
Speaker 3:No, not four day, cuz Friday is the weekend, I have a three-day weekend.
Speaker 2:Are you trying to be a bum like me?
Speaker 3:No, I'm just trying to brag.
Speaker 1:Oh no, a brag, a brag.
Speaker 3:Oh my gosh, I'm a bragger.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so that was our Monday. How was yours, Sonny?
Speaker 2:Hot. It was really hot, even for me. I got out there and. I got in the pool and it was hot water.
Speaker 3:Yeah, you're welcome, sunny. I set that up for you because you are welcome. I think the water was steaming.
Speaker 2:It had been out there all day.
Speaker 3:It was hot. Well, I set it up this morning, and I I mean that that morning. I thought that you were going to like, go like, get up fast enough but, yeah, like you were gonna like go like get up fast enough, but yeah, so, and what then? What day did you play in it? Monday, oh so, was it so clean was the water, so clean well, I didn't care about that well, you just cared about playing in it, did you?
Speaker 3:yeah, he likes a cool water well yeah, I set it up saturday morning and I thought that he was gonna to play in it, because I think I did it.
Speaker 1:Well, he played in it. Don't let him lie to you.
Speaker 3:He played in it Saturday, Sunday, Monday, oh so he's just trying to make me think that he didn't play in it for the weekend, sonny, I feel. Well, no, he's on my telltale. He's just telling me information that I wanted to know. Yeah, because I thought that you didn't play in it for the whole weekend and you only got in it yesterday.
Speaker 1:Oh well.
Speaker 3:So either you lied to me or you just forgot to mention that.
Speaker 2:I didn't mention it. I'm not lying.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he didn't mention it, but what he would did mention was Sunday when he got it or not Sunday. Monday when he got in there, it was really hot, more hot than it had been yeah, it's like.
Speaker 3:Well, like I said last podcast, the more august goes to the end into september, the more the heat picks up. Instead it goes down yeah, and then it's going to drop and then and then the more that we get into september is, fall starts and it gets colder you know what I like about fall now.
Speaker 1:I don't like cold weather. Yeah. But I like the cool evening so you can get a jacket on. Yeah. Go out and start a fire and roast some hot dogs.
Speaker 3:Or like some marshmallows.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I like that time of year.
Speaker 3:That's like the perfect time to like go camping too. Yeah, yeah I agree, it's not too hot, it's not too cold yeah, it's not too hot, not too cold, it's like perfect weather.
Speaker 1:You know what would be really neat? If we could find a small camper, park it at the end of the driveway back here by the uh, whatever that thing is, and do our podcast in that. How cool would that be. We would have our own studio away from everybody.
Speaker 3:They sell sheds like little she sheds up by my house. You know like those little things.
Speaker 1:Yeah, well, you've got to do a lot more work.
Speaker 3:But I am great at doing stuff like that. So if we got a shed, can we can like move everything in there and or like and leave it. We wouldn't have to disconnect anything we can just like paint the walls or like just like put up paintings and like make it just like a little bit better without spending that much money.
Speaker 3:I'd have to fix this computer here to take it out yeah, so we can paint whatever we can do, whatever we want to do, to the shed. That won't cost as much money, and then we can move everything in there and that well, I could use it I could use a laptop out there too yeah, because don't you get like good internet out there, or no? No, no no yeah, because you're like kind of out in the country we would have to move the network yeah up higher, so it would pick it up the wireless.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we could do it, we could make it work. That camper idea sounded really good and one time, one day here in fall, we we need to go camping outside I got a new tent last year when they went on sale and we still haven't been on, and I've got two new fishing rods oh yeah, we didn't go fishing this summer yeah, they got too hot.
Speaker 3:We'll have to wait till it cools down yeah, I mean there's supposed to be like some cool weathers in September and the fish they like I heard that the fish are kind of out during the fall time because let's like we'll have to go up to uh, I forget the name of that way, we went to like 10 different lakes last summer I don't like rent, like, but the lake up there where we have the reunions yeah, oh yeah, they probably have some good places yep, go drive up there and maybe take a picnic.
Speaker 1:We fish for a while and have a picnic. That we fish for a while and then have a picnic that sounds like fun. Maybe we can get your mom and Nene to go with us. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Can I go?
Speaker 1:Well, I don't know if we want to take him.
Speaker 3:He might run off.
Speaker 2:Oh, I wouldn't run off.
Speaker 3:I will put a leash on him. Well, you know like those backpack things that people have. I can. I can make one for him. I can make him a little backpack he's kind of heavy I am not he's kind of he's like yeah, you are he's the size of my foot. I think I got him well, we'll wait or I can put him on some floaties and let him swim in front of us.
Speaker 1:That'd be funny. Yeah. We're going to have to start taking more pictures and put them on the website. Speaking of the website, guess what I? Haven't showed you, but Mark sent us two comments on the website.
Speaker 3:Mark, you said him all right.
Speaker 1:Yep. So a shout out to Mark Hi, mark. He said good job Lily and Bruce. And then he sent another one and said good job Bruce. He didn't know if the first one went through, so he sent two of them. Yeah. But we appreciate the comments. See, that's what we like having a comment from everybody. There are several ways you can do that, so if you want to be part of our show, comment. You can go to our website, which is Hello.
Speaker 3:Sorry, I actually have it saved. I heard you say that and I was going to my notes.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 3:So the website you said.
Speaker 1:Yep.
Speaker 3:Okay, my headphones are falling off. Okay, I fixed them All right.
Speaker 1:Theuglyquackingduckcom. Yes, okay, I fixed them all right. Uh, the ugly quacking duck dot com. Yes, the ugly quacking duck dot com, it's our website. Go there and you can look on the front page and there's a place where you can type in your email address and subscribe, and then when we do a new podcast, we actually put it on the website first and you get an email so you can listen to it a little bit early yeah or you can just whatever you know.
Speaker 1:If you got a phone, you listen to us on your phone I.
Speaker 3:I listen to my podcast on apple podcast yeah, apple podcast pretty cool.
Speaker 1:But there's a place where it has a description of our podcast and you just click on the description and you can go to text us or text us or whatever it says, and we'll do a shout out to you next week for the next podcast. Yeah. Just like we did for Mark. I really appreciate it, Mark.
Speaker 3:Yeah, thank you, mark. I feel honored, I feel really honored.
Speaker 1:Yep, I sent him back an email letting him know we got it, so that was kind of cool.
Speaker 3:Oh, so, for those that are listening right now, I am going to be making a pod and I haven't told you yet, but I'm maybe I'm gonna be going back on my podcasting stuff if I still can, because it's been a while. Um, but I'm going to be making an episode on september. Let me go look at my calendar. I put it in my calendar and then I forgot the date because I'm like that yeah, I'm making a podcast September 7th, which is a Saturday, when I'm here and I will be talking about like fall and everything and like my favorite fall activities and some like inspo on what to do in fall for activities.
Speaker 3:So that's, I picked out a date to do that well, that's good so I'm organized and everything, and I know what day I'm doing it and I have now you can pre write down stuff, you can pre record it.
Speaker 1:But if I'm home I can help you get it going. You know that's a good idea. I'd like to see you get back to doing it. Yeah Well. I hope you do another podcast.
Speaker 3:It's definitely coming.
Speaker 1:You've already got the podcast. Another episode.
Speaker 3:I've got the episode planned out.
Speaker 1:Well, I hope so. I think that'd be cool. Yeah.
Speaker 1:Maybe you can have some of your friends on. Maybe you can have some of your friends on and maybe we can have some of your friends on. Yeah, I'm still waiting to get your mom back on here. She's good. Yeah, that's probably where you get it, because she's really good and I need to go out and start getting more guests. But with my job it's been really hard to get anybody invited. Yeah, yeah, this is more of a hobby than anything you can tell it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay.
Speaker 2:That was a long pause.
Speaker 3:What was?
Speaker 2:going on over there I'm eating animal crackers. Oh, I didn't get one. Give me one, here you go.
Speaker 1:Thank you All right, I paused your or not paused, muted your mic, Sonny.
Speaker 3:So you can chew.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so he can chew and not Make very much noise and I've got some in front of me too, but I'm gonna try to hold back and try. I said so. Have we done the earthquake shit?
Speaker 3:no't no we totally skipped it.
Speaker 1:Yep, we do not have an earthquake report.
Speaker 3:Because we did the one Like we normally do.
Speaker 1:Yeah, because we do every seven days and it's only been a couple days. Yeah, Well, it's been what? Four days, Three days. If you count Saturday, it'd be four. Yeah, but it already happened, so yeah what we're going to do is just go back two days and see what it looks like. Yeah, so she's got a report wrote down.
Speaker 3:The twist to it is we didn't do the total, we did like the 6.5s or 7.1, like those things, but they're shorter this week because it was only one yeah, now all together there was 35 that's uh 2.5 and greater earthquakes.
Speaker 1:There was 35 of them. So, uh, last week there was like 75 or something like that. So that's half of it. But what we did is we went in and we picked everything above 4.5. So, if you feel like it, I'm going to mute my mic, eat a cracker and I'm going to let lily take it away. Take it away, wait a minute, let me, I've got. Take it away. No, wait a minute, that's the wrong one take it away, louie.
Speaker 3:Oh yeah, okay, hi, hi, everybody. Okay, so I'm gonna be telling you every have a 4.6 in Japan. Yeah, we have a 4.1 in Southeast. Mayotte 4.1, that's not right 4.6 in the Southeast Mayotte I don't know how to pronounce that. Close enough, yeah that, close enough. Yeah, close enough. Uh, oh, southeast africa my bad. So we, it's a southeast africa, mayadi, whatever. And then we have a 4.7 in south mexico and then we have a 4.9 in north of I don't know how to pronounce that.
Speaker 1:You can always spell it if you want.
Speaker 3:It's a T-A-J-I-K-I-S-T-A-N. Is it Takasin?
Speaker 1:That's how I would guess, but I don't know for sure.
Speaker 3:I don't know either.
Speaker 1:so you know we're hillbillies. We don't know a lot of that.
Speaker 3:Yeah, and we had a 4.7 north of Papua New Guinea.
Speaker 1:Papua New Guinea's always having earthquakes, man. Yeah, I don't know how them guys do it over yeah, and we had a four point, we had a my gosh, I can't.
Speaker 3:We had a, and then there was a 5.8 in indonesia, which, if you split that into three words, it says in dancia thank you for that literature lesson you can turn out to a sentence. You just fix some of the words and you can do like I'm done. See ya, yeah.
Speaker 1:Wait a minute, that was good.
Speaker 2:I like that. Yeah, she made a joke on her own.
Speaker 1:Yeah, she did, sonny, that was good. I'm going to eat a cracker, all right. Well, I had a couple of them, I enjoyed it.
Speaker 2:Sonny had a couple more of mine. Yeah, they were good. You brought them home from work, didn't you?
Speaker 1:yes, I did. Um, they were on sale and they had a pallet stacked up in the middle of the aisle and I grabbed one. I may have to get another one before they go off sale, by the way.
Speaker 3:Uh, we kicked the air conditioner up on a medium fan and I don't think it's interfering too much I thought we can hear yeah, I may do a noise reduction on it when if he can't hear while he's editing, let us know if you can hear it, so we know yeah, if it's very annoying.
Speaker 1:If it's not annoying, we may just keep running it until fall comes.
Speaker 3:But if it is annoying then you can let us know and we'll try to figure out something yeah, because it's a lot easier to talk with the air conditioner on and I'm telling you and we want, have you noticed?
Speaker 1:my voice is not as hoarse.
Speaker 3:Yeah, it's not because of us. We want you to enjoy it. We don't want you to.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we want you to enjoy our podcast, even though we don't do anything.
Speaker 3:We just sit here and yap about random stuff.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we have fun yeah. That's what remember when we first did it. That's why we started doing it.
Speaker 3:My giraffe is missing a leg.
Speaker 1:A leg. Oh my gosh, you chewed off the leg.
Speaker 3:No, I picked it up and it was missing a leg, so now I'm going to have to cut off another leg off of an animal.
Speaker 1:Oh.
Speaker 3:I'm going to go with my hippo.
Speaker 1:These things are probably not good for us, but they're sure good.
Speaker 3:They're good yeah.
Speaker 1:You guys like animal crackers out there? If you do, let us know in the comments.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I do. I like them. Probably not good for me either.
Speaker 3:Well, you know what? You're still here and you like them.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we all like them.
Speaker 3:They're probably not good for anybody.
Speaker 1:So that was the list, right, we got through it, okay. Thank you for bearing with us. That's a microphone. I tried to look down. That's made for your voice, not your forehead.
Speaker 3:You did that once before, remember, yeah, and it made a big boom when you hit and I remember that one time when I brought my friend ghosty on here I kept paying his on accident and it was too funny yep.
Speaker 1:I couldn't stop laughing, and that one time when he started the podcast with me just laughing, yeah, they may not, the listeners may not, and that one time when he started the podcast with me just laughing yeah, that was good. They may not, the listeners may not enjoy it, but we did it was probably annoying.
Speaker 3:That's the thing, because I did have an annoying laugh back then, the ha, ha, ha, ha, ha ha. Literally hey, I'm the only one allowed to do that.
Speaker 1:No, no, no, I'm kidding Sunny, but I did have an annoying laugh back then, sadly, hey, right in the middle of the show before we well, we're probably getting close to being done. Let's do a shout out to all our listeners that we know are out there, okay, if you not commented or left us an email. We don't know. You're out there and that's okay so you have any friends you want to say hi to uh, sure, let me just get their names out all right, while you're doing that, I'm going to shout out to mark again.
Speaker 1:Uh, he's left us several comments over the podcast time and we appreciate him and I want to make a a question. Shout out to the person hey, hey, that did that right this time, the person that talked about our microphone volume being low, which I agreed with. But can you come back and comment whether it's better, because we're trying to get it really good and it would help if somebody out there commented on it. And Chris, if you're still listening to any of our podcasts, hi and hi to the gang. We're at my old job and any other shout-outs.
Speaker 3:Okay, I got mine ready. I want to go to that to us. Mira, my bestie, yeah, and I want to give a shout out to Adriana.
Speaker 1:Dang, hold on, let me get a drink okay, your voice is starting to do what mine normally does. I bet you got allergies.
Speaker 3:Yeah, probably Okay, I think I fixed it. Sorry about that. Oh, you're scary.
Speaker 1:Wait till Halloween. We're going to have fun.
Speaker 3:Yeah, it's going to be the best time that you've ever had on this podcast.
Speaker 1:I think I'm going to take some time off so we can have time to work on it.
Speaker 3:Well, do it wisely.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 3:Because you have a job that pays you money.
Speaker 1:Don't tell everybody I work. I don't want them knowing that. I think everyone works nowadays, but you need to go to work you know, when people come in the yeah, and they see me and they're wanting to know something, they say, do you work here? And I say, well, no, I show up no but no.
Speaker 3:If someone else asks that you should say you think you're so funny. You should say no, I don't work here, I'm just here.
Speaker 1:I don't know what this place is yeah, well, I hate to run the customers off by being too smart, ellie, you know oh yeah, that's kind of smart yeah I mean, I'm kind of used to being smart, so yeah, that's well, I don't know about smart. You kind of act, hey, just kidding I know I I think you're kind of crazy, though really, I agree actually on that.
