Bruce:

It's time. What time is it? It's time for the.

Sonny:

Ugly Quacking Doug. Podcast and a brand new episode.

Bruce:

That's right, everybody. It is a brand new episode and it is Sunday, the 22nd of December 2024, and I'm Bruce.

Sonny:

All right and I'm Sunny and I'm glad to be here.

Bruce:

Well, I'm glad to be here too, and we want to welcome everybody to the Ugly Quacking Duck podcast. We are here just before Christmas and we want to make this one our Christmas special. We won't do a whole lot today. We just want to say hello and if you are getting ready for Christmas or if you're getting ready to travel for Christmas, we want to wish you the best and we hope that everything goes well. We hope there's no sicknesses, no aggravations, no car trouble, airplane flight trouble, anything like that. We hope it turns out well. Well, we know there's a lot of stress put on this holiday and it becomes very uh what Rough sometimes. I'll just leave it at that.

Sonny:

Yeah, you better. You better quit talking while you're ahead. Okay.

Bruce:

It's good to hear you, Sonny.

Sonny:

Well, you know I'm good to be here. Ha, ha, ha, ha ha. Anyway, thanks for having me on again. I haven't told you that in a couple days or a couple episodes, but yes, thank you for setting this headset up and the mic up and helping me get on here. I'm enjoying it every time. So, thank you and thanks to our audience our listeners and our fans for coming aboard and bringing the hope and happiness to us so we can do this.

Bruce:

Okay, wow, man, you're on a roll this morning. Is it the sunshine or what?

Sonny:

Oh, I don't know, I just get excited every time we do this.

Bruce:

Well, I do too. It's fun. That's why we do it. If it wasn't fun, we would not be doing it, and so don't stop having fun, okay.

Sonny:

All right, Wasn't that a song? Don't Stop Having Fun.

Bruce:

I don't think it was quite that, but it's close.

Sonny:

All right. Well, I'll take your word for it all right.

Bruce:

Well, this is episode 96. Oh my gosh, 96, let me make sure. Yep, I wrote it down, I wanted to make sure is 96, and we're going to title this one tis the tradition, and that's what, um, a couple of things I want to do is going to talk about a little bit about their tradition, okay I want to do that too yeah, you can, boy oh boy.

Bruce:

All right, we're going to do something a little bit different right off the bat. So again, we want to welcome our new listeners and our faithful listeners, friends and supporters today, and we hope we don't run anybody off for this episode today, and we hope we don't run anybody off for this episode. Uh, today we've we're going to do something that I've been wanting to do for a long time. We just never actually got around to doing it purposely, like I want to do. But we've had a couple friends that have passed uh here, one of them before Thanksgiving and the other one just what a week ago or so, and the services for him was Saturday yesterday. I mean, of course I had to work. I didn't get to go, but that's besides the point.

Bruce:

The point is I want to do something for their honor and I want to open up the doors of heaven for them and ask the Father to take care of them. So that's what we're going to do at this moment. It's going to be a little bit, you know anyway, and then we'll move on. But to let me to Pat and Ferris, I take this moment to hope that you are welcome in to the other side. As you start your new venture, may you be led and bright out there for the rest of the world wow, what was that?

Bruce:

well, that was my church and I thought we'd ring it three times just to represent their passing and them starting a new life on the other side. So we welcome or we don't welcome. We send them on to that new life from this side.

Sonny:

Send them on to that new life from this side. All right, that sounds confusing, but okay, I'll go for it. It sounds kind of good actually.

Bruce:

Well, I hope so, and I hope everybody takes it that way, and we will probably do that more for other people. If there's any requests or anything to pass their loved ones on to the next side, that's what we're going to do, all right.

Sonny:

Yay, all right. Well, I don't know if the yay was good, but okay.

Bruce:

Well, I think it was good, and being our Christmas time, it it might be a good time to do that too. So for their family members that are going to be missing them, let's think positive that they're going on to do better things. So now on with the show all right on with the show.

Sonny:

All right on with the show.

Bruce:

Oh my gosh, you didn't have to do that.

Sonny:

Yeah, I did, it was fun.

Bruce:

Okay, next time I'm just going to hit the mute button on your mic, so you can't do that.

Sonny:

Oh, don't you dare. That's no fair. I don't have a mute button.

Bruce:

Well, there's a reason for that.

Sonny:

All right. What is the reason?

Bruce:

So you won't mute me.

Sonny:

Oh yeah. Okay, I understand, I'm going to find me a mute button.

Bruce:

You stay away from my board. You're not allowed over here. Just sit right where you're at and we'll be fine.

Sonny:

Oh, worried now, aren't you?

Bruce:

Well, could be a little bit concerned, because you have a very weird look on your face right now.

Sonny:

Oh yeah, I got it.

Bruce:

All right, you just behave. We'll do the earthquake report. We're going to zip through it. We're not going to ask questions or we're not going to have you guess no, that's so fun stop oh my gosh, you sounded a little bit whiny there I did, didn't I?

Sonny:

that was pretty good yeah, you know you're faking it right well, of course I wanted everybody else to feel sorry for me, that you was being too mean to me Hee hee, okay.

Bruce:

Well, it didn't work. I didn't have any emails pop in or anything like that, so too bad.

Sonny:

Oh, you're checking your email while you're recording, but you expect people to show up on your email and it's not been put out there yet. Oh, good move.

Bruce:

Well, it sounds good, doesn't it?

Sonny:

Oh yeah, it sounds good. I just told on you.

Bruce:

Yeah, you did rotten egg.

Sonny:

Um no, but anyhow, let's do the earthquake report.

Bruce:

Are you?

Sonny:

going to do it, or am I going to do it?

Bruce:

Uh, do you want to do it? You haven't ever done it. I don't think have you.

Sonny:

Yeah, I did it once, maybe twice, but yeah, I'll do it.

Bruce:

All right, let's do that and, like I said, we're not going to do any guessing, we're just going to read it off the report so we can say we did it. And that way, next time we do it we'll have the report from this one. So, all right, I'll go ahead and turn it over to Sonny.

Sonny:

Oh, that was good. Yeah, yeah, okay, all right, is everybody ready out there? We are going to do the earthquake report. This is the report for the last seven days. As of today, just a few minutes ago, we run the report and I've got all the numbers. Yay.

Bruce:

Alright, don't get too cocky now.

Sonny:

Hey, I'm doing this report, you just leave me alone.

Bruce:

Alright, have at it.

Sonny:

Alright, thank you. Alright, everybody, we're not going to guess the difference this time. I'm just going to tell you. So, last week on 12-15, we did the seven-day report. Now it had 2,453 earthquakes all magnitude on that report. Okay so this week seven-day report.

Sonny:

We're going back seven days. We have a total of 2,036. Wow, it went down the one day. I didn't guess it went down. Boy, I can't win. Anyway, we had last week 2.5 above 526 earthquakes. This week we had 2.5 and above 305. Wow, they went down too. Okay, the 4.5 earthquakes last week was 104. Uh-oh the 4.5 earthquakes this week 121. So guess what? Those went up. Yee, so that kind of blows your theory out of the water, doesn't it Bruce?

Bruce:

Uh, maybe I don't think it's exact, but it still kind of holds true, kind of Maybe. All right, never mind.

Sonny:

All right. Well, it's something to watch anyway. So we only had two over 6.1 earthquake at port villa and then, lo and behold, they had another one, a 7.3 at port villa. The rest of them was, you know, like fives and stuff. So we've only had two earthquakes and they were all all in Port Vila. Two above six. And if you want to know where Port Vila is, it's between Fiji and Australia. Yay, go look on the map.

Sonny:

You'll see it All right. That's it for the Earthquake Report today. I am Sonny and I'm here with the Ugly Quacking Duck Podcast.

Bruce:

Good job there, sonny, good job.

Sonny:

Thank you. Thank you, I'll take my bow now.

Bruce:

You actually did a pretty good job. I like that. Thank you for doing our Christmas week roll of earthquakes. We pray there wasn't nobody hurt on them. Earthquakes um, hopefully no serious damages either. I didn't get any news on it so I don't know. I need to find a subscription somewhere that has news that deals with these earthquakes, because I never know what's happening there. I need to do some more research. That's probably what I need to do, but anyhow, on with the show all right, I thought we already doing the show well, yeah, I was.

Bruce:

That's just a phase, you know okay, anyhow, let's go on.

Sonny:

Okay, anyhow, let's go on.

Bruce:

What was that? That's just the divider between one segment and another.

Sonny:

Oh, okay, you're throwing all this stuff in on me.

Bruce:

Well, we used to use this stuff before we had you aboard and then we kind of died off and started other stuff and, anyhow, I thought we'd go back to some of it. You know, we got a new year starting very, very soon, believe it or not, and uh, oh, yeah, it's coming fast and we're going to have to do our new stuff next year, right, anything we're going to do, I guess we'll talk about that next week, but anyway, one bit of news for you folks out there. Actually, there's two bits of news. Anybody like TikTok, anybody on TikTok if you are, you might be interested, because there's supposed to be a ban next month on TikTok. Congress enacted that bill last year, I think it was. But anyway, the news is that the Supreme Court has now agreed to hear TikTok's argument about the ban. So we'll see what that does and how it plays out. I just wanted to announce that because you know there's a lot of folks in this country that use TikTok and there's a lot of people who believe that it's not because of it being Chinese-owned that they're wanting to ban TikTok, it's because of the truths that come out on TikTok. So I don't know, that could be either, or if any argument, we'll just leave it up to you folks.

Bruce:

And then, um, to enhance the christmas spirit, we have a serious now I'm saying serious christmas enthusiast. He's in wyoming and, uh, what actually happened was Wyoming State Police or Highway Patrol is what they're called there pulled over a Ford Mustang that was decorated all in Christmas lights. It's actually kind of pretty. I've got a picture of it. I'm going to put it on our webpage, so go look it up if you want. Apparently, they have an ordinance. That's not really against christmas lights, but it is against certain colors being used, like red and blue. They don't want them in the middle or towards the front of the car, I guess probably because emergency vehicles use those lights. So that's why the person got pulled over is because they had the red and blue lights on them. But anyway, it's a pretty neat sight. I thought that would be good for our Christmas show. Just to acknowledge that, and if you want to go look at it, we'll have it on the webpage. So there you go.

Sonny:

There we go. That's a neat story, actually, and having, instead of having a christmas tree, we have a christmas car a new tradition there you go, a new tradition, new tradition.

Bruce:

This poem I'm going to read is called Tis the Tradition. Are you ready? All right, I hope you like it. Tis the season oh, those traditions. Here we are. One more present, present, another person to go? Oh, no, need that perfect gift, all will be happy. It is how we grew up. What a brain warp it is. Oh, to break the traditions, to escape the lies, to teach the next generation the real importance. No one wants to be left out, not to be scorned. Yet it isn't the presence that's sticking in our minds, oh no, it is the family members gone by, the friends of old, all the stories we long to hear, that warm touch to feel once more. All the presents don't make up the lost time, the empty beds, the cold days all alone. Let's have our own tradition this year Contact a friend, a loved one, near or far, Share a memory with them here and now. Don't wait until one of you are gone. Share a moment now, while it can be had, and save those presents for the very young.

Sonny:

Wow, that's I don't know. I don't know what to say about that, but um, thank you.

Bruce:

Well, thank you, um, I don't think nothing needs to be said, so we'll just move on from here. All right, I've got a um, a moment here and I'm going to read. Let me get my paper. I wrote notes. I want to say hello to Cab and all those at the Seven Brew in Mount Vernon, illinois. Thanks for all you do and a Merry Christmas. I'd like to also say thank you to the Rural King, friends and family we have up there. Thank you for everything you do and we've enjoyed the year. Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year. I'll probably do a Happy New Year show, so we don't need to do that year. I'll probably do a happy new year show, so we don't need to do that. And, uh, my friends and family in washington, missouri, illinois, arkansas, florida and many of the other states and countries that I can't even remember, I want to say merry christmas. I hope you everybody out there in listening distance part of the show I hope all of you have a great Christmas.

Bruce:

I know we put a lot of tradition into this thing. You know we want to buy the perfect gift. We want to, you know, spend the perfect time with everybody and we put lots of pressure on us to make everybody happy with that one special gift and we really do forget the love and kindness and the blessings that we have and they have. And again, the reason for the poem is I just wish we could all take a moment, call our friends up, call our family up, or whatever it is, and say, hey, let me share a memory for you or with you and have them share one with you. Just take five minutes and you'll have something from each other that you can never get from opening a present. That's something that's personal and important in life. So this Christmas, try it. Even if you're having Christmas together with family that you have all the time, do the same thing. Remember something special that maybe you haven't shared with them or it's been so long they may have forgotten it, and tell them about that moment. And then have them tell you about a moment.

Bruce:

I remember when I was young that our families would get together and the women would be over here in one section and the men would be in another section. I'd run back and forth between them, but they would tell stories about when they was kids and oh, I did this and do you remember when this happened, and we would learn things about our family, about our relatives, and it was a growing experience. And that stuff you took away from them holidays, and you would never remember the present you got when you was 10 years old Well, sometimes you would, if it was very special or they'd hit it on you and just surprised you. But you would remember those get-togethers, you'd remember those family members and what they told you. So, hey, let's try it again, let's bring that back so people can remember.

Bruce:

And if we can't get together with them which most people can't because of the way families are and their work and the hardships going in between, we do have phones. Call them, try it out, see what happens, see if you can make another moment for the memory bank. You know that thing up here. Anyway, I'll get off the soapbox. I just wanted to say that.

Sonny:

Boy, you just love throwing that soapbox in there.

Bruce:

Yeah, okay, rub it in. I've got one less left surprise and we're going to close out the show with this. I've been a member of Wave Lake for quite a while now several months I guess and I have wanted to use it. And what it is? It is a website that's put together for musicians and creators and they're sharing their creations with the public and you can go on and actually pay sats. If you don't know what that is, I'm not going to take time to explain it To them to play their music. Basically, it's a value for value. If you get something out of them, some value out of their songs or their creations, then you pay value back and it's a way for them to earn money instead of going through the big groupie things and getting all their money taken from them.

Bruce:

So I've been kind of a supporter and I'm going to play one of the songs so we can close off. So again, I want to say Merry Christmas to everybody. Thank you for being part of the show, thank you for listening. Hope you wasn't too drove crazy and I'm going to let Sonny say good evening and what we're going to do. I'm going to play this song and we're going to close the show down. So this episode 96, is going to be closed. After the song.

Sonny:

All right, it sounds like fun. I haven't heard this song, yet You'll have to tell us what it's about. But bye everybody. 73, and that verse says that. I'm not sure what that means but, 73, and we will talk to you hopefully next week, episode 97, coming up next week. Bye.

Bruce:

All right, sonny, thank you, that was good. Yep 97's coming up next week. Bye, all right, Sonny, thank you, that was good. Yep 97's coming up next week. Let me make sure, yep, we're at 96 this week. So there you go and this song. Again, I want to say bye to everybody.

Bruce:

73,. May the Father's blessing go with you this holiday and remember, even though we say I'm not going to ruin everybody's tradition, but I guess I am that this holiday is the tradition of the birth of the Son of God. It's not the son of god, it's not. Um, if you figure it out, it's actually probably in spring, which a lot of people believe. It's april the first, and that's why they call it april fool's day, because they don't want anybody to figure it out. I don't know, I'm not that intelligent, but I'll tell you it's not in the middle winter, it's not next to the sauces. So anyway, but hey, whatever, don't let it ruin your traditional happiness, okay, anyway, this song is the christmas. Let's be this Christmas, let's Be Free. It's by Richard Greaser, it's out of his Bugle Weekly album and it's very good, a little bit different, but it's kind of got a Christmas spirit. So I'm playing this one for you, we're going gonna say goodbye with this song, so merry christmas everybody listening to podcasts by the fire 40 hours a week is what is required.
